Frequently Asked Questions

Common Questions About CoreTec

No — all CoreTec floors include a factory-attached cork underlayment. Adding a second layer of underlayment will void the warranty, as it creates too much "give" in the locking system.

WPC (wood-plastic composite) core is slightly softer underfoot and better for residential installs where comfort is a priority. SPC (stone-plastic composite) is a denser, more rigid core suited to commercial environments, high traffic areas, and installations over radiant heat. Both are 100% waterproof.

Yes. CoreTec can float over most existing hard surfaces including ceramic tile, vinyl, and hardwood — as long as the surface is flat (within 3/16" per 10 ft) and structurally sound. Loose tiles, delaminated floors, or cushioned vinyl must be removed first.

CoreTec does not require acclimation in most cases. The dimensional stability of the WPC/SPC core means it resists temperature and humidity changes well. However, for installations in extreme climates (below 55°F or above 85°F room temperature), allow 24 hours for the product to reach room temperature.

Regular dry sweeping or vacuuming (without beater bar) handles daily debris. For wet cleaning, use a damp microfiber mop with CoreTec Encore floor cleaner or a pH-neutral cleaner. Never use a steam mop — the heat can damage the vinyl layer and void the warranty.

Yes. All CoreTec products are GREENGUARD Gold certified, meaning they meet strict standards for low chemical emissions. The wear layer is scratch-resistant against pet claws, and the waterproof core handles accidents without damage to the subfloor. Rubber-backed pet mats should be removed periodically to avoid discoloration.
